The Old Nick Rehearsal Space

50A Letitia Street…

The Old Nick rehearsal space will be your chez away from chez during your time rehearsing the show. It is a bit of a rough and tumble place (scrubs up well for a storage facility…) but we love it and hope you will love and care for it too. Here is where you will dance, sing, sweat, bond, laugh, cry, and allegedly “act” while you get ready for the theatre.

We try to provide all the amenities you could ever need, including a single toilet, tea and coffee, and electrical outlets.

Please treat our funny old building with respect and care. Clean up after yourself, try not to break anything, if you do break something, or if something runs out, please let a member of your team know. We are a company run by volunteers and every little bit counts. Wash up the coffee cups, even if nobody thanks you - Old Nick will know and he will make your time in the afterlife less unpleasant.

Old Nick rents out the Letitia Street space to other companies. During February 2026, Terrapin are renting Rehearsal Room 2 and we ask that you please act respectfully and do not touch or meddle with any of their equipment.

If you’ve done Revue before you might have noticed something new - QR codes and a sign in device. Don’t fret, this isn’t a SkyNet take over plan (well, not yet anyway). The Old Nick Company provides a system called TimeShare which allows us to quickly and easily log attendance. We do this for production management oversight and to help track issues or maybe even solve problems (he can’t have been cheating on his wife - he was here rehearsing! And we can prove it!)

At Uni Revue we simply ask that you use the system for attendance to help protect us and protect you during your involvement with the company. If you are uncomfortable with or curious about the system, why it is used, and who can see your data, please check out our TimeShare policy or chat to your Production Manager or Producer.

Rehearsal Room 1

Shake your booty!

Rehearsal Room 1 is usually what you see when first entering Old Nick HQ. Along the lefthand side of the room you will see black curtains masking floors to ceiling mirrors, and on the right you’ll see some brown cupboards and a desk which we sometimes call the “office” and houses Old Nick’s archives as well as odds and ends. At the end of the room there may be a green screen, it depends on what day of the week it is. You will find cubbies in the far right corner for storing your personal belongings during rehearsals.

This front room and its well worn carpet are usually where dance rehearsals are held, as well as singing rehearsals. In the summer it’s the cooler room, in the winter it’s the warmer room, and it is the only place in the building with an air conditioner. Additionally, this room has access to the master light switch and all the main light circuits in the building.

Please don’t interfere with anything on the desk or in the “office” area. Do not dump things on the desk, or play around with the big projector. And for the love of god, don’t eat anything that touches the floor…

Rehearsal Room 2

The All Seeing Eye!

Rehearsal Room 2 is the big one. Sporting a sprung dance floor performance area with enough space to simulate the full size of the Theatre Royal stage, this is where we will eventually have our full set and run the big show rehearsals. There is laneway access via a large roller door, and when things are tidy you can even get a whole car into the building! Up the stairs at the back of the room is the access to the costume room.

Rehearsal Room 2 sports overhead heaters, and is usually where our two large speakers can be found. It is also where we have our wall of Revue posters hanging proudly! The history! The memories! The…giant poster of a man staring down at you? Yeah, that’s Gold Life Member Graeme Paine OAM, long time member of the company and one of our greatest contributors.

Rehearsal Room 2 is your access to the best bits of Old Nick - the kitchenette and the toilet! Only one toilet you say, that can’t be right. Oh, but it is! One glorious bowl, so please don’t spend ages on your make up while a line forms outside! While waiting to do a wee however, you’ll be standing and chatting in the kitchenette. Here we have a fridge, tea, coffee, water, mugs, glasses and other assorted free things for your comfort. We also have the (infamous) Old Nick drinks fridge! This works on the honesty system - you want a chocolate bar or a can of soft drink? Just ring it up on the Square terminal beside the fridge (or hold down the side button and scan the barcode), tap to pay and you’re away! Remember that all proceeds go back in to the Old Nick Company so if you ever feel ripped off, at least you’re being ripped off for a good cause!

The Workshop

Careful of the dropsaw!

You aren’t allowed in here! What are you doing?? Get the hell out!! This is where the tools live (and also where the appliances for working with timber are found). You aren’t to go into the workshop without permission, and especially are not to use any of the gosh darn power tools!

In the workshop you will find our awesome new props room, so possibly you may be sent in here to grab something. Maybe. Unlikely, but it could happen.
