The Old Nick Company is thrilled to announce that auditions are now open for the 2027 Hobart Theatre Summer School production of MAMMA MIA!

Since 2003, the Hobart Theatre Summer School has brought together some of Tasmania’s most talented young performers to create a full-scale musical production during the summer holidays.
In 2027, we’re taking another exciting step in the program’s history.
For the first time, the Hobart Theatre Summer School will take to the main stage of the Theatre Royal, with the worldwide musical phenomenon MAMMA MIA!
Featuring the iconic music of ABBA, MAMMA MIA! is packed with unforgettable songs, big characters, comedy, heart and plenty of opportunities for a brilliant young cast to shine.
Audition for MAMMA MIA!
Audition bookings are now open for young performers who will be aged 15–19 at the time of the performance season in January 2027.
Before booking an audition, please read the Audition Information Pack carefully. It contains important information about the audition process, rehearsal commitments, production dates and what you’ll need to prepare.

Audition bookings must close on Wed 30 Sept at 6:00pm to allow adequate time for the audition schedule to be finalised and confirmed.
Meet the team
MAMMA MIA! reunites the creative team behind the acclaimed Hobart Theatre Summer School seasons of ANYTHING GOES (2025) and MIDNIGHT: The Cinderella Musical (2026).

Together, they’ll work with the 2027 company to bring one of the world’s most loved musicals to the Theatre Royal stage.
